Agra Fort

Fortified with a wall which is about 22 m high, Agra Fort was the first North Indian fort built with red sandstone. The fort was constructed in the 16th century when the Mughal Empire was at its full glory under the rule of Akbar. The descendants of Akbar further made changes to the structures inside the fort. Today, only 30 of the original 500 buildings have managed to retain their design. Still, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is enthusiastically visited by the tourists.

Located on the banks of River Yamuna and facing Taj Mahal, Red Fort can be accessed through Amar Singh Gate. There are many worthwhile structures like Bengali Mahal, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas and Moti Masjid with enchanting beauty and royal feel.
