Mountain ridge munnar Situated in the Western Ghats, Munnar is a beautiful hill station that has contributed to Kerala's fame as a travel destination among both national and international travelers. Located at the convergence of three rivers Nallathanni, Muthirapuzha and Kundala, the place is perched approx 1600 meters above the sea level.

Eravikulam National Park / Rajamala (15 km away from Munnar): It is amongst the finest wildlife reserves of Kerala.Visitors who love staying outdoors and munnar india points of interest find this location really outstanding. The park is stretched across 97 kms in Rajamala Hills. This National park is a blend of grassland & Shola forests. The place is home to Nilgiri Langur,mountain goats called Nilgiri Tahr, sambar etc. Every year, the park is closed by officials in the month of Feb & March as the mountain goats breed this time.

Mattupetti: It is 15 kms away from Munnar and is famous for its dairy farm. Here more than 100 varieties of high-yielding farm animals are reared. The place also boasts a beautiful rose garden. The Mattupetti dam is just near to the farm.Visitors can enjoy boating too in this dam. Speed launch, motor boats and slow speed boat easily accessible for rent. The farm remains close in the month of Jan & Feb as cattle breed in these months.

It is 20 kms away from Munnar. En-route top station, at a site on the lake bank, between some hills,every loud sound or hum is echoed many times by the surrounding hills. This spot is famous as the Echo point encased with panoramic sights. The place serves as an excellent place, particularly for young visitors to go ashore for a while,yell out as well as listen to their own voice echoing.

Top Station : It is about 41 kms away from Munnar. This place is the major home to the highest tea-plantations of India. From Munnar it takes about 1 hr to reach. Top Station is situated on the borders of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and speaks a supreme panoramic sight. Visitors keep exploring the top station as it is cited in Tamil Nadu's Theni district and Kerala's Idukki district. The place is located at an elevation of 1700 meters.

Power House Waterfalls (17 kms from Munnar): While visiting 17 kms away from Munnar you see a lovely waterfall emanating from the renowned 'Sita Devi Kulam' close to Devikulam. Sita Devi Kulam is believed to have been the bathing-place of 'Sita'. People believe that the waterfall water contains medicinal properties that act as a natural massage and cure illness.

Kundala : It is located at a distance of 28 kms. It is memorable to watch the Sethu Parvathy Dam built during 1946 as a part of Pallivasal Hydro Electric Project. The harmony of this wonderful location will never fade from a visitor’s memory. The kurinji flowers that bloom once in every 12 years and Cherry blossoms that appears twice a year will get printed in your mind for ever even you leave the place. Chithirapuram (10 kms from Munnar): Here one can visit the Middle Ages charm of cottages, bungalows as well as the courts with the trees and plants all around to captivate the sightseers. The crowd puller attractions include Pallivasal Hydel-Power Project & picturesque tea plantations.

Anayirankal : It is 27 kms away from Munnar. Sprawling tea plantations delimited by evergreen woods on the hills of high mountains make the Anayirankal Lake as well as Dam a quite famous picnic spot. Tourists can often see the herds of elephants that flock the lake to quench their thirst.

Meesapulimala : It is the second highest peak situated an elevation of 2650 meters, in Kerala. This peak offers an impressive view of Tamil Nadu sprawled below. Devikulam : It is a splendid hill station that is sited at a distance of 7 km and is appreciated for its stunning lawns as well as rare ecology. There is also found a lake that is famous as Sita Devi Lake.

Attukal : It is about 9 km away from Munnar. Attukal offers panoramic views of spectacular waterfalls & verdant green hills. People generally explore the place for trekking purposes.

Idukki Dam : This dam is about 60 kms from Munnar. It was constructed on the Periyar River, in the narrow valley between the Kuravan & Kurathi Hills and lies in Kerala’s southern part. This dam is the world’s 2nd and first arch dam of Asia. It is 550 ft. high & 650 ft. wide. The dam lies next to the Cheruthoni barrage. Kulamavu Dam is situated to its west. There is also the Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary close to it.

Pothamedu : It is to be found at a remoteness of 6 km from Munnar. This lush green region is eminent for its tea,cardamom & coffee plantations. The crisscross mountainous highways make an outstanding place for long strolls in the lap of the nature.

The dam is kept open during Christmas and Onam for public visit.

  • Day Trek in Meesapulimala (Duration 7 to 9 hrs)
  • Meesapulimala: The 2nd highest peak in the South India. It takes around 25 kms drive up
  • to Silent-Valley estate via the Kanan Devan Hills, tea plantations as well as panoramic valleys.
  • The trek will be conducted through Pine forests, the Shola grass fields, valley of Rhododendrons etc.
