The victory of Gurkha’s dynasty in this stunning scenic location of Sirmaur District makes you sense the bravery of the marvelous matriarchs who once lived here. The place where the fort stalled is the exact site where the most important battle between the British and the Gurkha Kingdoms took place, long ago. Ranjor Singh Thapa and his Gurkha army captured the Nahan Forts and Palaces in a battle and used their remains to build the Jaitak Fort, which is not only a place of brick and stone but also the patriotic feelings of the army’s, once a dream of the battlers.

Jaitak Fort - Himachal Pradesh - India

Built-in 1810, the Jaitak Fort was drenched with impeccable features and newfangled layouts. One may be amazed at the diplomatic skills of India’s ancient rulers through their underground tunnels that exist from the palace and a large circumscribed area open to the sky for relaxing paces. Overall, the fort in the Jaitak hills and its surroundings blend seamlessly with nature, giving the area a stunning appearance. The name Jaitak means a peak or two peaks, as its origin may be given to the place noted for the presence of the two hills or even denotes the bravery and courage of the rulers at that time, not sure of which. One of the oldest forts in Nahan, the place is a must-visit treasure, not only for the fort and hills.

You may also reach up to the nearby Jamta Falls on the roadway of Nahan-Dadahu. Traveling to this wonderful natural paradise to admire the nearby hills of Nahan, Sain, and Dharthi Hills while standing on the hilltop of the Jaitak Hills gives you the chills that last long even after you return to your place.
