Valluvar Kottam
This remarkable fort was built in Chennai, Kodambakkam,to honour the seasoned, learned, wise and renowned Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. This monument features an effigy of Thiruvalluvar and is constructed like a replica of the Thiruvarur temple chariot. Thirukural's 1330 verses are all etched on the pillars around the Kottam.
Valluvar kottam was built in 1976 in the honour of the tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, renowned for his literary masterpiece Thirukkural, which offers insightful commentary on morality, ethics, and values,famous monument situated in chennai and monument's chariot-like design reflects the poet's idea of life as a journey.At a height of 39 meters, the granite structure is impressive and with a life-size statue of Thiruvalluvar in the centre and ten stone elephants supporting the structure, it is shaped like a chariot. At 8.5 meters tall, the black granite statue is the biggest representation of Thiruvalluvar anywhere on the globe. Valluvar kottam has a cultural centre that hosts various events and exhibitions, a library that contains books on Tamil history and literature, and a theatre that hosts various dance and music performances. Tourists can stroll around the monument at their leisure and take in its stunning architecture and peaceful ambience.

This historic monument is erected by the former chief minister of Tamilnadu Dr. Karunanithi. In this year 1975-1976 this grandeur memorial came alive by peerless dedication of the architect V.Ganapathy Sthapathy.
The chariot with the statue of Thiruvalluvar stands majestically in the centre of the Kottam.
Thiruvalluvar Kottam is open on all days from 8 am to 6 pm. The entrance fee is Rs.10 for the adults and Rs 5 for children.
